You will learn about the general aspects you need to apply the safe handling and transport practices outlined in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Acts. This includes what is considered a dangerous good and their classifications; the documentation and reporting requirements for dangerous goods, shipper, handler and carrier responsibilities, proper use of equipment, emergency measures and special cases.
TDG training certificates are valid for 2 years for transport by aircraft, and 3 years for all other modes of transportation.
Training certificates, however, are not transferable, as they are issued by an employee’s current employer. Each employer must issue a separate training certificate. If you have more than one employer, you will need training certificates for each.
Workers who typically need TDG training will also need WHMIS 2015 or other safety training, depending on the specifics of their work position and responsibilities. We recommend you review your responsibilities in your workplace and offered safety course description to determine what you need.
