Vancouver Coastal Health regulates every food premise in the City of Vancouver under the BC Food Premises Regulation. Section 10 of the regulation requires every operator of a food service establishment to hold a FOODSAFE certificate or its equivalent. When the operator is away, at least one employee on site must hold it too.
The FOODSAFE program is an initiative of the Province of British Columbia, managed by the BC FOODSAFE Secretariat with the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), BC regional health authorities, and food service industry associations. Vancouver Coastal Health Environmental Health Officers verify FOODSAFE Level 1 credentials during routine and complaint-driven inspections.
Our FOODSAFE Level 1 Vancouver, FOODSAFE certificate Vancouver, FOODSAFE course Vancouver, and food safety training Vancouver all meet BC's provincial training standard. Environmental Health Officers recognize the certificate during inspections at every Vancouver food premise. The same certificate is accepted by all five BC regional health authorities (Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, Island Health, Interior Health, Northern Health), so it stays valid if you change jobs or move within the province.
